In recent celebrations of India’s 75th Republic Day at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Sunjay Sudhir, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted the significant achievements contributing to the growing relationship between India and the UAE.

These achievements include the establishment of a Hindu stone temple and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi.

The envoy emphasized that these developments are a result of the rapid and positive transformation in bilateral relations, guided by the vision of leadership on both sides. The mutual trust and respect shared between the nations have paved the way for broadening and deepening ties, exploring new areas of cooperation.

One noteworthy accomplishment is the first international campus of IIT-Delhi in Abu Dhabi. Ambassador Sudhir termed this as a remarkable achievement, stating that the master’s degree program on sustainability and energy transition is set to commence later this month.

Additionally, bachelor’s degree programs are scheduled to be introduced in September 2024. This initiative reflects the commitment to fostering education and knowledge exchange between India and the UAE.

Another prominent milestone highlighted by the envoy is the establishment of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, a stone temple in Abu Dhabi. This temple is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on 14 February 2024 and is expected to serve as a spiritual sanctuary promoting global harmony.

The envoy acknowledged it as one of the most notable embodiments of the bilateral relationship, emphasizing its significance in honoring the enduring values of peace and tolerance advocated by Gandhi ji and the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir, in particular, holds historical importance, representing a tribute to the millions of Indians who have made the UAE their second home. It stands as a testament to the leadership’s efforts in bringing the people of both countries closer together.

The envoy expressed gratitude to the expat community for their substantial contribution to the economy and development of the UAE.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir inauguration on 14 February 2024 is expected to be a momentous occasion, attended by Prime Minister Modi. The event is anticipated to strengthen the cultural ties between the two nations, symbolizing a shared commitment to fostering unity and understanding.

Ambassador Sudhir also highlighted the upcoming ‘Ahlan Modi’ event on 13 February 2024, where the Indian prime minister will address the community. This event serves as an opportunity for the expat community to connect with their leaders and reinforces the strong bond between India and the UAE.
