Construction Stones of the Ram Mandir

The construction of the Ram Mandir involves the use of substantial quantities of stone, showcasing intricate architectural planning. The materials include granite blocks sourced from Karnataka and Telangana, pink-colored sandstone from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, and pure white Makrana marble for the sanctum sanctorum.

Notably, the sheer volume of stone used in the temple’s construction is emphasized, with the secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai, mentioning that 21-22 lakh cubic feet of stone has been employed in the entire structure.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Prakara details

The temple’s design incorporates a unique four-cornered wall called Prakara, boasting a remarkable width of 14 feet. This Prakara, currently under construction, will be double-storied, allowing devotees to perform Parikrama (circumambulation) of the temple on the upper floor. The construction timeline for the Prakara is estimated to be 6-8 months.

Ram Mandir facilities for pilgrims

Preparations for the prana pratishtha ceremony extend beyond the temple structure itself. Facilities for pilgrims are being thoughtfully developed, including locker facilities for 25,000 pilgrims at the Pilgrimage Facility Centre (PFC).

Additionally, a small hospital will be built near the PFC, and extensive complexes for toilets and other amenities are being constructed. The commitment to environmental responsibility is evident, with two sewer treatment plants designed to manage waste responsibly.

The logistical aspects of the temple’s infrastructure are well-considered. The electricity supply has been carefully planned, with a dedicated 33 KW line directly connected to the powerhouse. To address potential firefighting needs, an underground water reservoir has been dug near the structure.

The water supply strategy involves sourcing from the Saryu River or the ground, with a commitment to a zero discharge policy.

Ram Mandir construction

The geographical context is crucial to understanding the significance of the temple’s location. The temple is being constructed on the northern part of the 70-acre land allocated to Hindus by the Supreme Court in 2019.

This three-storied structure, with the ground floor already complete and the first floor under construction, represents a substantial architectural endeavor.
