Yajna, a ritualistic ceremony accompanied by the chanting of Vedic verses, performed at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Yajna took place on 12 January 2024, and involved the recitation of verses from the Yajur Veda.

The ceremony is part of the preparations for the opening of the Bhavya Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 22 January 2024, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to preside over the Ram Mandir opening and the ‘Pran Patishtha’ ceremony of Ram Lalla Idol.

During the Yajna, verses from the Yajur Veda, specifically the ‘Madhyandin Shakha’ were recited, and it lasted for four days. The ritual was conducted with the participation of 101 respected Brahmins from different parts of India, symbolizing a pan-Indian auspicious involvement in the ceremony.

According to popular belief, the chanting of these verses is believed to eliminate negative energies and bring positive vibes and tidings.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the organization overseeing the construction and management of the Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya, mentioned the conclusion of the Yajna in a post on its official handle, emphasizing its significance in the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla.

Two pavilions were constructed in the Ram Mandir premises specifically for the recitation of these ancient scriptures, highlighting the importance of the Ram Lalla prana pratishtha ceremony in the lead up to the Ram Mandir inauguration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to preside over the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony on 22 January 2024, marking the ceremonial installation of the deity Lord Ram Lalla inside the shrine’s sanctum sanctorum.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that about 100 chartered planes would land in Ayodhya on 22 January 2024, bringing dignitaries invited to attend the ceremony. This is seen as a demonstration of the facilities and potential of the newly opened Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhya.

Vedic rituals for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla are set to begin on 16 January 2024, a week before the main ceremony of Ram Lalla Prana Pratishtha. A priest from Varanasi, Lakshmi Kant Dixit, is designated to perform the main rituals of the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla on 22 January 2024.

The period from January 14 to January 22 is declared as Amrit Mahotsav in Ayodhya, adding a festive touch to the overall celebrations.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his visit to Ayodhya, directed officials to implement the ‘Kumbh model of cleanliness’ in the Ayodhya city. The emphasis is on ensuring that Ayodhya appears “cleanest and most beautiful” ahead of the Ram Mandir opening.

Yogi Adityanath instructed that there should be no dust on the roads, and toilets must be cleaned daily, underlining the significance of cleanliness during this auspicious time.
